Account Executive, Sports
JONESWORKS, strategy-driven communications, marketing, and management agency, is seeking a driven, creative, and highly organized Account Executive to join our Sports team in our New York office.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of industry best practices, a passion for public relations, a strong work ethic, and previous experience developing ideas that build audiences, increase awareness, and engage consumers across every touchpoint of new and traditional media.
Core Responsibilities:
- Support the development of creative, innovative, results-driven communications strategies and programs to support client objectives
- Drafts, edits and is responsible for finalizing necessary media and client-facing materials, including client communications, pitches, press releases, agendas, etc.
- Keeping your finger on the pulse of the latest industry and media trends and translating them to actionable insights and recommendations
- Creates and qualifies target media and influencer lists with minimal review or directive needed
- Execution of earned media calendar, developing story ideas and creative pitches for targeted media, aggressively pursuing new angles and opportunities
- Proven ability to place features, trend round-ups and items in quality media outlets to strategically position consumer and lifestyle clients
- Actively networks with media across entertainment, lifestyle, business, trade, and consumer outlets and maintains strong relationships
- Vet inbound opportunities for clients and help evaluate opportunities against client objectives
- Staff client activations/events such as interviews, press tours, red carpets, photo and content shoots, media days, etc.
- Maintain sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
Requirements:
- 3 years of relevant PR experience preferably in an agency setting
- BA or BS in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field
- Deep knowledge and passion for sports, especially NFL and NBA, with the ability to stay up-to-date with industry trends and topics
- Strong media relations
- Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to execute multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate efficiently and effectively
- Ability to take and apply direction from supervisors
- Effectively manages time, meets deadlines and works with supervisors to manage priorities
