Director of Human Resources

JONESWORKS, a strategy-driven communications, marketing, and management agency, is seeking a driven, experienced, and highly organized Director of Human Resources in our New York office.

The Director of Human Resources will manage various aspects of the HR function for JONESWORKS including but not limited to recruitment, on-boarding and off-boarding, training and development, policy development and compliance, benefit administration, talent and performance management, team member relations and terminations. The ideal candidate has prior experience working in a fast-paced HR environment, has deep knowledge of HR policies, understands agency environment, and enjoys team member engagement. The Director of Human Resources will be savvy, tactful, and passionate about supporting the growth and development of team members and the company in NY and LA.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop HR strategies and administer HR policies and procedures
  • Create training materials and tools for professional development of the management team
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Operations Team to create programs to improve company communication, process, and retention
  • Manage the talent acquisition team
  • Manage the employee lifecycle, from sourcing, negotiating employment agreements, career development, to staff departures
  • Responsible for overseeing bi-annual performance review cycle
  • Partnering with senior leadership on all aspects of employee performance such as implementing performance improvement plans
  • Own and handle all employee relations issues
  • Create onboarding and offboarding plans and educate newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations
  • Maintaining diligent files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records
  • Administer and lead annual benefit enrollment
  • Own the termination process by compiling termination documentation, conducting termination meetings, and completing exit interviews
  • Proactively identify and suggest ideas to motivate and develop employees
  • Ensure company is compliant on all current employment legislation and regulations in NY and CA
  • Advising CEO and Operations Team on appropriate action against employees who violate code of conduct

Requirements:

  • 6+ years Human Resources experience (including talent sourcing, recruiting, employee relations, compensations, and benefit administration)
  • Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) or equivalent certification is a plus
  • Experience with ADP HRIS system
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Ability to be confidential with person information in various situations
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to draft correspondence with minimal direction

Salary range: $110-150K
