IN OUR EXCLUSIVE DIGITAL FEATURE, THE MUSICIAN TALKS ABOUT HIS RETURN TO SUPERSTAR FORM, INCLUDING AN UPCOMING WORLD TOUR, HIS FIRST TIME GRACING HOLLYWOOD’S SILVER SCREENS, AND BALVIN’S PLANS TO “INTERN” UNDER PHARRELL AT LOUIS VUITTON.
The musician seems at ease when we link up in the private meeting room of his luxury apartment building in Manhattan.
He’s wearing a firetruck-red hoodie by Project GR that says “Caffeine” in the Coca-Cola font, complemented by pants also from the Korean label — a pair he goes out of his way to note fuses three different swaths of denim into one silhouette.
The musician plops onto a couch as if it were his living room, clearly at ease and ready to chop it up. He doesn’t rest his feet on the designer coffee table, but his demeanor suggests it wouldn’t be out of pocket. If he did, though, you’d notice he’s rocking the Air Jordan 3 “Rio” that he personally designed this year — his third collaboration with Jordan Brand, and a model he holds dear due to it being named after and inspired by his own son.
Despite being a global sensation with the type of schedule that would make the average person break out in sweats, Balvin’s chilling because he knows he’s back on the throne. Not that he ever left. But after four years off from releasing a proper full-length record, 2024 marks a return to form for one of the most successful and influential musicians currently working on the blue marble we call Earth.
