Ibiza may be best known for its club scene, but the island has long been a mecca for creatives looking for inspiration as well. This summer, Danielle Snyder of accessories brand DANNIJO was the latest to seek refuge amongst Ibiza’s rugged Mediterranean coastline, jewel box beaches, and colorful clothing markets.
“The shopping in Ibiza is amazing—so eclectic, bohemian, and whimsical—lots of crochet, swimwear, espadrilles and cover-ups,” the designer, who fell in love with the beach shack shops located at the beach clubs El Chiringuito and Es Torrent as well as the small shops that line the streets of the inland village of Santa Gertrudis, says.
Though Snyder spent her days exploring local markets, soaking up the sun, and enjoying the fresh Mediterranean seafood, her time in Ibiza wasn’t without a few forays into the local nightlife scene—evenings which turned out to be a surprising source of creative exaltation as well. “The music inspired me. Music has always been one of my greatest sources of inspiration for Dannijo which is why I’ve always been so drawn to people in the music world,” Snyder exclaims. “The dance culture and late nights inspire a sort of gypset-tomboy vibe—shorter skirts, sneakers, big earrings, arm parties, anklets mixed in with friendship bracelets bought on the beach, and statement hair accessories like oversized flowers and colorful scarves. I don’t typically like clubs but there was something about the energy and spirit of Ibiza that made dancing to Kygo under the stars at Ushuaïa or to David Guetta amidst the crowd at Pacha particularly magical.”
